アツムラシンジ

山形県鶴岡市温海(あつみ)地域は、27個のムラからなります。春の例大祭は、それぞれのムラでお祭りをしています。多くは五穀豊穣や大漁祈願の願いを込めて行われており、地域特有の文化と伝統が織りなす色彩豊かな祭りは、ムラ人それぞれの個性と地域のコミュニティ精神を反映されているようにも見えます。

例えば、海側にある地域では、神輿の担ぎ手が山側と海側に半分で分かれて神輿を押し合います。山側に動いたときは豊作、海側に動いたときは大漁という願掛けがされています。

また違うムラでは、船が難破したところイルカに助けてもらったということへの感謝を込めて川に五穀を奉納するところもあります。

厳かな儀式と共に、お酒を楽しみながらの和やかな雰囲気も共存する場。この祭りは、ただの祝祭ではなく、地域の暮らし、文化、そして歴史の交錯する場であり、地域の心の鼓動を感じることができます。

The Atsumi onsen area in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture, consists of 27 villages. During the spring festival, known as ‘Rei-taisai,’ each village celebrates its own festival. Most of these festivals are conducted with wishes for abundant harvests and bountiful fishing. The colorful festivals, woven with unique local culture and traditions, seem to reflect the individuality of each villager and the spirit of community in the region.

For example, in the areas near the sea, the bearers of the portable shrine, or ‘Mikoshi,’ are divided into groups representing the mountain and sea sides. They push against each other, with a belief that movement towards the mountain side signifies a good harvest, while movement towards the sea side signifies a great catch.

In another village, there is a tradition of dedicating grains to the river as a gesture of gratitude to dolphins, which, according to local lore, once saved a shipwrecked vessel.

Alongside these solemn rituals, there is a convivial atmosphere where people enjoy sake. These festivals are not just mere celebrations; they are a confluence of local life, culture, and history, offering a glimpse into the heartbeat of the community.
